Lancashire’s first Covid-19 free news radio station supporting young people and their families during #lockdown2020.
BBGC is Lancashire’s oldest youth charity boasting 121 years of helping young people across Burnley however, during more recent times and the current pandemic situation all the facilities and befriending services have moved online, this has given the organisation not only a national but international audience, helping and supporting people.
The idea for BBGCRadio came from Graham Vernon the centre manager for BBGC who said “knowing that the majority of young people we have been in contact with were just turned in to their Xbox’s and didn’t really want any other engagement, it would have been far too expensive to create a games console but there are lots of free DJ apps available, so BBGC Radio was born and although it is still very early days we receiving over 120 listeners within the first 24 hours of going live on Friday 22nd May 2020.“
Requests are now being taken via email at email@example.com and the hope is that several young people have already started practicing to go live as soon as they can.

BBGC are very honoured to be one of 50 national charities that has been awarded £1000 to help towards the amazing work they do to support all the young people in their care. BBGC was chosen from a list of 13,695 charities who all do amazing work for their causes.
Centre Managet Graham Vernon said “the funds have come at a crucial moment and will help to support our young people during a time of uncertainty and confusion, we pride ourselves in offering a full one stop shop for young people at what ever stage of their lives and help them to reach adulthood with as many life skills and opportunities that they, for what ever reason, would not normally achieve. 👫🌈❤️#movementforgood #bbgccharity
PLEASE HELP US SUPPORT THE YOUNG PEOPLE IN OUR CARE.
We provide valuable support to vulnerable young people and do not receive funding from local or national government, all our support comes from donations, fundraising and grants.
The team are currently working above and beyond to keep group sizes to a minimum, whilst complying with government guidelines, however session numbers are at record highs, the support we receive from Warburtons and Greggs with food is invaluable to our cause but more help is needed.
Please help us to continue by caring for us so we can continue caring for them!
Due to the recent closure of the Papyrus Helpline – a lifeline service for young people – we are stepping up our “here to talk” service via our social media platforms and website BBGC SUPPORTING YOUNG PEOPLE TODAY @BBGC_Charity @BurnleyboysG

As part of our helping the young homeless of Burnley, BBGC is embarking on a new project to purchase a house for the use of young people from the area who have found themselves homeless but a currently in a transitional period of their lives, most commonly between the ages of 16-21 years when some support services no longer class them as child and other do not yet class them as an adult.
This period of time is never easy for any young person, you want to be able to take control of your own life but are still held back, is this fair? Unfortunately there is not time for us to discuss this topic as things need to change now, and with our Give-a-Home campaign hopefully we will be able to do just that.
Property in our local area can go for as little as £20 – £30k for a two up two down, the modernisation and works then needed to allow the property to be fit for multiple occupancy can then begin and very quickly and for a lot less then a person would be a drain on other government and non government services we can not only secure them a place to live but a place to call home.
Help us raise funds to refurbishing our existing toilet facilities, the club has gone through drastic changes over the last 18 months, the place is now a place of safety and comfort for all our 372 members aged between 5 – 19 years, one of the areas the members have been asking for is new toilet facilities s they are outdated, old fashioned and not very serviceable, help them spend a penny by dontaing all your old change.
